2010 Spillover 05 : Museums and Old houses
Still in Bacolod, now on our afternoon of the second day... After a full inasal lunch in Manukan Country, then a few buys in SM Bacolod, we called our taxi driver contact (by the way he was so kind and helpful and if you want his contact details, PM me) and agreed to a Php 600.00 whole afternoon going around the city and neighboring cities.
First stop, Bacolod's Museum. It got us thinking, Mom actually blurted it out to us, that we have been visiting museums of the places we went to, but we haven't been to Davao's own museum. We answered, maybe we should set a schedule and visit it one of these days... That was November last year (2010), but until now, we haven't gone to the place since. :D
We were greeted and welcomed by our tour guide, and mentioned the rules (where taking pictures are and not allowed). The museum was a collection of Bacolod's colorful history. We were in awe, as he mentioned the personalities who came from or who's ancestors are from Bacolod, believe me, I couldn't believe it right away myself!
Then the most that amazed us all, was the toy collection from different countries all over the world. It was very wonderful, we all somehow became dreamers of world travels and to go beyond destinations we can cover.
Second stop, the old house turned tourist spot in Silay City. It was one of those houses that we often disregard since it was old, but mind you, it has way more things to offer that I somehow reconsidered house remodeling. I particularly like the house's way of air conditioning way back, which made me think, how can I do that at home... hmmm....
Third stop, The Ruins. It was a big house situated in the middle of a big beautiful landscape, that according to our tour guide, was built by a respected individual for his beautiful wife. The wife though did not see the house finished since she died before it. Later, the house was ruined with a big fire and left the concreted unfinished building that became one of the most visited place in Talisay City.
Fourth and last stop, Bong-bong's pasalubong store. Me and Labsy were scheduled to fly back to Manila same night and then Manila to Davao the following morning, so we stopped for a while to buy a few piayas, biscocho and other Bacolod's famous "pasalubong".
After buying some delicacies from Bong-bong's, we grab a meal to go at KFC and went straight to the airport to catch our flight... Manong taxi driver was so kind to drive fast enough so we could be on time and can relax consuming our meal while waiting for our time to board the plane...
So, from Bacolod, we're off to Manila to catch another flight, both via Cebu Pacific Air (www.cebupacificair.com), back to Davao and back to home sweet home...
