mga batang X @ virgin island |
Hey guys, I've been too overwhelmed with the fun runs these days and I missed a few places we (me and labsy) went to that I haven't shared yet.
We have been to Panglao Island, Bohol before around April of 2008 but we haven't tried island hopping and dolphin watching yet. My brother and sister-in-law was in Bohol earlier last year and they were our inspiration to do the Balicasag Island hopping and dolphin watching.

heading for dolphin watching |
We contacted the boatman my sis-in-law gave us and we haggled the whole day island hopping plus the two snorkeling gears for Php 1,800.00. Usually they don't include the gears, you'd have to pay Php 100.00 for each. If you're interested re the boatman's contact info, include your email add in the comment and I'll get back to you... :D
It was Nov 28, 2010, our 3rd day in Bohol and Balicasag Island... here we come!!!

company... awaiting... |
Kuya Freddy (Labsy's cousin) was so kind, he drove us to Alona Beach, Panglao at 6:00am where the boatmen were waiting for us. Before arriving there we managed to bring Dunkin Donuts (
http://www.dunkindonuts.com/) and coffee since we weren't able to take some breakfast... Just few enough to keep our tummy prepared for anything... ;) Then finally, our most awaited adventure, our Balicasag island hopping escapade!

dolphins playing around us |
The tour started with dolphin watching. It was Sunday, so we weren't alone in the ocean searching and waiting for the dolphins to show up. After quite a while, the dolphins finally decided to appear. They're quite fast too, one time they're in the middle of all the boats circling them, the next thing you know, they're quite far away from your back... We got a few shots, but well, it was still a bit dark then and they weren't so near as well, so the shots aren't so promising, but will do.

there's one over there! |
After a few minutes of searching, waiting and following some dolphins, we went straight to Balicasag Island for our Snorkeling Activity. We were told by our contact that if we want to save a few bucks, we can bring our own food, there'll be food in the Island but it will be expensive. Well, we didn't have time to prepare, so we just brought some extra cash just in case.

arriving at balicasag island |
When we arrived in the Island, we were greeted by our snorkeling guide and a vendor who told us that we need to rent a pair of aqua shoes so we won't hurt ourselves from the corals. So we rented the aqua shoes for Php 100.00 each pair. It was very helpful, during snorkeling, we didn't worry as we stepped on some stones and corals as we located a spot for us to start snorkeling.

balicasag island from snorkeling site |
Before we went snorkeling, we've already arranged a kilo each of squid and fish for our lunch. So after I think a couple of hours snorkeling, diving and swimming with the fish, we had a super satisfying lunch by the bay, which cost a total of more or less Php 500.00. After lunch, we rested for a while and bought a few souvenirs like necklaces, pearl earings and shell bracelets. They were beautiful...

the virgin island |
When snorkeling was over, off we went to island hopping. We hopped from Balicasag Island to Virgin Island. It's a long curve white sand bar, very relaxing to view and way amazing to describe... We stayed for about an hour in the Island. Me and Labsy had a great time taking pictures and making fun of each other.
The island seemed like abandoned, yet you will still see vendors displaying their goods. Some were even offering sea urchins for food... I haven't tried it, and did not then, so sorry guys, I cannot describe how it tastes...

After the short stay in the island, we went back to Alona beach to freshen up and went for a stroll. As we strolled along the shore, we noticed that this place recembles Boracay's station 2. Beach front hotels and bars, I bet this place is loud in the evenings. We strolled through the end of the line and it felt good to just hang out and hang loose with the one person you'd love to be away from everyone with...
