2010 Spillover 11 : Bohol-Cebu with In-Laws

Near Kidstown entrance in
Sagbayan Peak, Bohol
Bohol is a place next to home for me... Well, that said, I guess we need not count the times that I've been there. Mamo and Papo is so fond of their home place, why of course! But late November of last year (2010), Mom, despite our convincing schemes and pre-bought tickets, she did not join us on our Bohol trip.

This time, me and Labsy, my neice ("Neneng"), my mother-in-law ("Ma Susing") and uncle-in-law ("Uncle Rudy or Manoy to most"), got our gears up and went to Bohol for a somewhat homecoming and some pleasure escapades.

Checking In for MNL-TAG flight
So, Nov 26, we all went to the airport for check-in. Me and Labsy were a little worried for Mama since she's half-paralyzed and so she is differently abled. She can walk though, but very slow and she could easily get tired walking. But when we reach to the check-in counter, and requested a wheelchair, there were no worries from then on, we even get to use the elevator and we were first on the line of boarding the plane. It was good service then.

At MOA
Our plane was Davao-Manila bound in the morning then will have a Manila-Tagbilaran flight in the early afternoon. We had a very early flight so, we arrived early in Manila and we had a little window for going around the city. So what we did was, after arriving, we check-in for a transfer and then went out for a couple of hours to have breakfast in MOA (Mall of Asia - http://www.smmallofasia.com/) and to buy krispy kreme doughnuts for our friends and relatives in Bohol and for our snacks too as we wait for our plane going to Tagbilaran.

@ Ma Lilly's
Our flight to Tagbilaran was a little delayed, so we arrived a little late, but it was okay. Labsy's cousin, Kuya Freddie met us at the airport then off to Mama Lilly's (Kuya Freddie's mom and Mama Susing's sister) and there I saw a very touching moment and the outpouring of love between siblings as Ma Lilly, Ma Susing and Uncle Rudy met as we all stepped our of the car. They haven't seen each other for a long time and I believed they missed each other much.

Going to Uncle Canor's place
@ Corella, Bohol
After settling down, the first on our to-do list is to visit my relatives (mom's sister) in Corella, Bohol for a pre fiesta (besperas) dinner and for my neice "Neneng" to visit home, she basically grew up with my uncle and aunt, her grandparents actually. It was a bit muddy walk from the main road due to a little rain, but we managed, "Neng" even took her sandals off. Beside the mud, since it was already night time, we were also dealing with a total darkness, there weren't any electrical post, we had to improvise and use our cellphones as flash lights. It was a big help considering we had to walk along the rice fields. After a few minutes, we finally arrived at my aunt's place, chit-chat with the relatives, and answered questions like where is my mom and why did she not come with us, and devoir on lots of food as they celebrate the fiesta.

Sagbayan Peak
After a few hours we then went back to Mama Lilly's place leaving "Neneng" with her father, brother, grandparents and the rest of our aunts, uncles and cousins. We knew that after staying with us in Davao for a few months, she missed them much for sure. Then we settled down and retired for the night.

Sagbayan Peak
Our 2nd day was spent by me and labsy visiting my aunt's place at Lindaville subd. in the morning, while mama and uncle Rudy accompanied by kuya Freddy visited mama Mimi's (Ma Susing's sister) place and later went to lolo pablo's (Mama Susing's father) grave. We met back to Mama Lily's place after lunch and then went out for an afternoon of fun ride and adventure...

Kidstown, Sagbayan Peak
Mid afternoon when we started to joy ride with kuya Freddy. Our first stop was the Sagbayan Peak (http://www.sagbayanpeak.com.ph/). They have quite friendly staff, gave mama a wheelchair we could use while in the premises, they even let us in through another entrance for Mama's convenience.

Kidstown, Sagbayan Peak
The park shows a portion of the chocolate hills. To get a better view, we went to the top of the viewing deck, we rested every now and then so mama can get ready for another set of steps to conquer. Alas! She made it to the top!

The park has improved since the last time we (labsy and I) were there April of 2008. The pool side has opened already and they have the kidstown corner where kids can storm around the place and live their dreams and adventure with the facilities around the park.

After hanging out and taking some pictures, we went to the famous chocolate hills in Carmen, where a better view of the hills is just right in front of us. But since it was late afternoon when we arrived, a few minutes after, it was already dark, so we headed home after a quick climb and a cone of ice cream... ;)

Chocolate Hills
Our 3rd day was spent for an island hopping, dolphin watching and snorkeling at Balicasag island which I already told you about on a separate blog... (http://donandji.blogspot.com/2011/03/2010-spillover-10-balicasag-island.html)....

After the island hopping, we went to one of the Banluta's family friends, lolo David and family. It was another moving moment since all of them thougt they won't see each other anymore due to distance, but thanks to Cebu Pacific's promo, it was a dream come true! We spent dinner at their resident and then went home after a while of laughing and catching up...

Loboc River @ night
Our fourth day was our scheduled day going to Cebu, since our flight back to Davao is from Cebu. But before we went there, Labsy, Me, Uncle Rudy and Kuya Freddy took a quick ride to Mama Mimi's place since we (me and Labsy) wasn't able to join them the first time they went there. We also visited Lolo Pablo's grave, Labsy insisted because Lolo Pablo appeared in his dream. Then we passed by Labsy's cousin, one of Mama Lily's children at his work place to meet him for the first time, we took advantage of the time left, cause we don't know when we'll have the time to visit Bohol again.

Bohol Tropics
After the marathon visits, we went to the port to buy our Bohol-Cebu tickets for the fast-craft. The craft will not leave for another couple of hours so after buying the tickets, we headed to Bohol Tropics Resort. There was no entrance fee, so we just went in and stayed for an hour or so, taking pictures of the place. After a quick detour, we went back to Tagbilaran Port and waited for boarding. That's after buying the famous "kalamay" of course.

Bohol Tropics
When we arrived in Cebu, Ate Nila, Daughter of Mama Lily fetch us from the port and took us to their home. We had a hotel reservation but since Ate Nila offered to stay with them, so we did. Well, Mama, Neneng and Uncle Rudy stayed with Ate Nila while me and Labsy stayed at Ate Lynn's place.

Bohol Tropics
Ate Nila took us to her house, left our baggage there and joined them for a little walking, biking, badminton game at the park, near Ayala Center. While the rest stayed in the park, me, Labsy and Uncle Rudy joined Ate Nila at the Ayala Center to buy some groceries and some pasalubongs for family and friends back home...

The following morning came and off we went to the airport for our flight back to Davao...

Bohol Tropics
Indeed it is so refreshing to see familiar faces and to tie all the links we have... It takes more than the keyboard strokes, button pushes and keypad presses to get in touch with family... It's better to feel the real touch, to see the real smile and to hear the real laughter rather than some emoticons, smileys and abbreviations like LOL...
