Places - Gumasa


It was not summer, yet, I longed for a white-sand beach, with wide area for walking and a clear beach for swimming... And what do you know! I heard about Gumasa... Some call it Mindanao's Boracay... Heard and seen lots of good comments about the place and so I was dying to go there...

It was just last month (Oct 26 to be exact) when we (don and ji-me) decided to really go... Got our information on how to go there through the net... And we made it!!!!

Getting there...

It started with a taxi ride from our home to the land terminal in Ecoland Davao City. Then the yellow bus to Gen. Santos City costing Php 240 then for the 3-hour trip. And hey, no need to reach the terminal, just leave from the bus particularly at the point where passengers going to KCC mall are brought, drivers normally announced that. Or if not, just take a tricycle from the terminal to KCC mall, costs only Php 7 each. Well, at KCC mall, we looked for the van terminal for Glan. Glan is an hour away from GenSan and costs us Php 80 each... After arriving at the Glan terminal, a single motorcycle took us to the beach resort we mentioned (White Haven....), costs us Php 30 each...

When we arrived there... we were awed and amazed with the place... great beach and great place...

We rented an overnight cottage for two... Nice place since beside the room, included in the package is the open cottage just right next to the room and a refrigerator we could use... And all that for Php 1,500... Well, since we called before we went there and knew about the ref, we kind'a brought some drinks... juices and our bottle of red wine... cool aye!!!

We took a dip for a while that afternoon and retired to our room for dinner... We ordered grilled pork for dinner... It was quite more than we expected and so, we had something to consume with our red wine after dinner...

We retired not too late that night... But we started rooming round the island quite early the following morning... And God we had fun!!!!

Yumi the Snow White - by me Last Saturday, Feb. 12, my niece was celebrating her birthday in advance. Her dad, my brother, is leaving for his work before her birthday, Feb 22, so they celebrated it ahead. My sis-in-law, requested me to take care of the tarp, and I said why not. It will be my gift to Yumi. Fairy barbie Yumi - by Kuya Jer Friday came with the tarp in mind that it will be a Barbie themed, I did not have a design in mind yet. My officemate and dear friend Kuya Jerry is not that busy, so I asked him if maybe he could make one for me. My First Dive (Samal Island)

I have been intrigued by scuba diving for a long time but didn't have an open door to make a step towards it. I've always been a fan of the world under and fascinated w/ the whole new universe that sea creatures are having. But, as they say, anything is possible! A day to visit the world under "UP CLOSE & PERSONAL" happened for real! Orientation by Sir Ivan I expected to have a better diving chance on our future travel to Coron, Palawan. But what do you know??? Ma'am Beth, the owner of the boarding house where my father and brothers used to stay while in Manila, visited Davao and stayed in our humble home for a few days.
